Equity And Inclusion

JOIN OUR 2022-2023 Equity and Inclusion TEAM!

Equity, Diversity & Inclusion

To nurture an environment where all students and families feel welcome, safe, and valued.

Established in 2015-16 school year, this working group of administrators, parents, and school staff meets regularly to develop a shared understanding of educational equity and examine site practices to ensure equitable outcomes for all students.

In addition to providing multicultural learning experiences for students, the site EDI group works to support the Miller Creek School District equity goals:

  • Raise equity consciousness of staff, students, and community members.
  • Improve instruction so that all students prosper and grow. Use assessments and data to show individual student growth. Reduce predictability of student achievement.
  • Use the lens of equity in decision-making, policy-making, and instructional decisions.

Our Lion DEI Committee supports the District Equity Statement by:

  • Promoting and celebrating diversity, inclusion, and multiculturalism in a variety of ways including school-wide gatherings, cultural events, workshops, parent education, and community conversations.

  • Providing all members of the community with a supportive space and the tools to learn about, discuss and ask questions about issues and topics related to diversity and identity.

  • Collaborating with the District Equity Committee

  • Serving as a liaison between our Home and School Club parent organization, School Site Council, and the District Equity Committee.

OUR LVE D.E.I. Purpose

This "Open anytime to the LVE community" team recognizes that a diverse school community alone is not enough. We seek to build on this commitment by striving to create a truly inclusive school: one where students and adults are welcomed and supported, and where their faces, voices, and experiences are reflected and valued. We believe that the work of inclusion is a responsibility held by all and done for all, person to person

Our committee will support the District Equity Statement by:

  1. Promoting and celebrating diversity, inclusion, and multiculturalism in a variety of ways including school-wide gatherings, cultural events, workshops, parent education, and community conversations.
  2. Providing all members of the community with a supportive space and the tools to learn about, discuss and ask questions about issues and topics related to diversity and identity.
  3. Collaborating with the District Equity Committee
  4. Serving as a liaison between our Home and School Club parent organization, School Site Council, and the District Equity Committee.
