Board Agenda Items for October 13th

Dear Miller Creek Community:

 

The agenda for the regular meeting of the Miller Creek School Board has been posted here

 

The Board will hear three presentations at this meeting:

 

  1. The District contracted with a mechanical engineer from Costa Engineers to evaluate HVAC systems at the schools in the district. Among Mr. Costa’s recommendations was that the District consider modification of the HVAC systems in all four buildings with a retrofit with needlepoint bi-polar ionization (NPBI) systems to provide a higher equivalent MERV rating in the occupied space.   1. At the Board of Education Meeting in July, district administrators presented recommendations for reopening for the 2020-21 school year, which were approved by the Board. A phased plan was developed that is aligned with State and Public Health guidance for a sequential, measured and deliberate approach for a return to site based classroom instruction. The design of all current student schedules allows for our schools to reopen using a hybrid model.  Miller Creek School District schools began to slowly reopen to in person instruction this week, starting Monday, October 5th. District Administration will provide an update on the reopening and phasing plans, fall enrollment, class and cohort size data as well as recent survey results of certificated and classified staff and the parent community.   1. A number of questions and comments have surfaced in both the staff and community responses to the surveys regarding maximizing outdoor space and shade structures. Chief Business Official, Erik Lee, will provide some general information about shade structures and provide some examples of those that meet DSA standards. Presentation
